I strongly believe that our future lies with the children of primary school age. With four grandchildren of my own, across pre-school, foundation and primary school age, I can see that children are being pressured into growing up too fast in our dramatically changing world.
This was my main reason for commissioning the story of 'The Twizzlecaps' - a magical fairytale that is full of enchantment. Within an educational framework, the story embraces nature and wildlife, stretching the imagination of the child and at the same time encouraging social responsibility.
My biggest concern for my grandchildren is the way violence is portrayed through television and computer games. Some programmes encourage lack of respect and aggression whilst many computer games have a single goal - to kill or destroy everything on screen.
I don't think it is too late to turn the tide. The Twizzlecaps is the first step in my attempt to bring back some of the old values I had as a child.
